About Us

Equipping Missionaries to Serve Safely, Effectively, and with Confidence

Statement of Faith

THE GREAT COMMISSION

We believe that the ministry of evangelism (sharing and proclaiming the message of salvation only possible by grace through faith in Jesus Christ) and discipleship (helping followers of Christ grow up into maturity in Christ) is a responsibility of all followers of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15; 1 Peter 3:15

JESUS

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15

THE TRINITY

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God revealing the love of God to the world.

1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; John 3:16

We believe that training and support are the keys to effective, positive impact for Christ.  That’s why we provide accessible, high-quality training, giving every missionary the practical tools and guidance they need to carry out the Great Commission with confidence and excellence.

Core Values

THE GREAT COMMISSION

We believe that the Great Commission (Matt 28:19) is for all Christians, whether that means travelling overseas or simply stopping for the one.

EQUIPPING

We value thoughtful organization, administration, and planning prior to leaving on a missions trip. Logistics and planning for health, safety, & risk management help to ensure that we are equipping our teams to carry out the Great Commission with excellence and effectiveness.

EXCELLENCE

We value personal and spiritual excellence in missions (Titus 2:7, Colossians 3:23). We serve with a heart of excellence in all we do, being thoughtful of others, and using discernment and wisdom in our actions and decision-making.

LOVE

We believe that the two greatest commandments (Matt 22: 36-40) “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and to love your neighbour as yourself” are the blueprint for carrying out the Great Commission.

EFFECTIVENESS

We value seeking discernment and wise counsel on when, why, and how we go on mission. In order to be effective, we must ask ourselves, “Are our actions helping to grow, activate, equip the people that we’re going to help?”

Our Mission

We exist to keep missionaries safe and healthy spiritually, mentally, and physically both on the mission field and when they return home.

We’re on a mission to equip anyone carrying out the Great Commission to do it well. Our training empowers churches and small-to-medium sending organizations with the practical tools and resources they need to serve effectively and make a lasting, positive impact.

Through pre-trip and post-trip training, we help teams navigate the challenges of missionary life while facilitating meaningful, positive experiences for both missionaries and the communities they serve.

Our Story

We’ve always been passionate about missions. Surrounded by family and friends who have spent years serving on the mission field (and having spent time on the field ourselves), we understand the realities and challenges of missionary life firsthand.

Over the years, we noticed a recurring pattern:

  • Missionaries sidelined by preventable illness or injury

  • Teams struggling due to intercultural miscommunications

  • Organizations facing reputational challenges from unintentional mistakes

  • Young missionaries feeling disillusioned when returning home

We knew there had to be a way to prevent these outcomes and support those carrying out the Great Commission. That’s how Before We Go was born: to provide practical, quality training that’s accessible for organizations of all sizes to equip their missionaries for success.

Equipping Missionaries for Real-World Challenges

Thinking about the mission field is one thing. Living it out is another. Missionary life comes with real risks, unexpected challenges, and moments when teams can feel alone or unprepared. That’s why each Before We Go training seminar is fully customized to your team’s size, goals, and destination. We provide the tools, strategies, and support needed to face challenges confidently, both on the field and when returning home.
